No-one driving the Pacific Coast Highway through Southern California will find a better located boutique historic inn than Casa Laguna in Laguna Beach. The Casa Laguna was built in the 1920s as a private house, and over the years different rooms were added on, with the buildings climbing up the lush hillside behind the Pacific Coast Highway. These were used as artists' studios, and this artistic/bohemian flavor has remained. The gardens and grounds would inspire any creative spirit, filled as they are with luscious ferns, soaring palm trees, bright bougainvillea, fountains, little patios, and colorful Catalina tiles.
The rooms and suites are individually and beautifully decorated. The furniture is a mixture of fine woods and comfortable wicker, while ceiling fans, shuttered windows and decorative glass lamps add to the feeling of a relaxing seaside retreat. Some suites have a fireplace and whirlpool bath. Lovely antique furniture also adorns the reception and lounge.

The Casa Laguna has won many awards over the years, including a "Best of Orange County" award for nine years in a row from the readers of the OC Register. Their breakfast has also won accolades, and guests can enjoy this in the dining room, on the outdoor garden terrace, or in their rooms. The chef and owners of Casa Laguna all support the Slow Food movement, and all food is sourced from within 100 miles of the inn.

Although no evening dinner is served, the guest lounge has menus from all the local restaurants, staff are happy to advise, and guests can walk to some restaurants or take a taxi to others in Laguna Beach.

Although the Casa Laguna Inn and Spa is right on the PCH, the rooms spread backwards up the hillside surrounded by lush tropical gardens, so traffic noise is not a problem. The reception desk, lounge, and dining room are at the front of the main building, and even the suites on the floors above that look over the highway to the sea have their bedrooms at the rear, allowing a perfectly peaceful night's sleep. It's the perfect inn for those driving the Pacific Coast Highway, America's most beautiful drive.
